Eryldene Historic House and Garden

Come and enjoy Eryldene's magical garden that was designed more than 100 years ago. Professor EG Waterhouse and Hardy Wilson teamed to create a garden planned as an extension to the house; divided into a series of connected outdoor rooms. Eryldene is now famous for its glorious camellias plus azaleas and other cottage garden plants and the original towering gums, jacarandas and maples.

Ikebana Workshop at Eryldene

The Ikebana Workshop will be held in the peaceful and beautiful setting of Eryldene on Sunday 22nd September between 10am and 1pm.

This is a special opportunity for aspiring florists and people interested in Japanese culture. Learn the history and some of the fundamental techniques of this classical Japanese art form and create your own Ikebana floral arrangement to take home.

We are excited to welcome Jenny Goodwin, a former President of Ikebana International Sydney Chapter with over 20 years' experience teaching and exhibiting, to lead the class. The Workshop is limited to ten people to enable personal attention and feedback. All of the fresh flowers, foliage, a container and other materials will be provided to create your own floral arrangement.

Participants will also be treated to a tour of the house where Ikebana floral arrangements will be on display and will also enjoy a lovely/ home-made morning tea. At the end of the class, participants are welcome to stroll through the garden.

Cost: $100 ( cost of materials, tour and morning tea). Note: Eryldene Members receive a 10% discount.

Please note that the workshop is limited to 10 people, so be sure to book early.

About Ikebana:

Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement, practiced for hundreds of years, is now continued by people who love and enjoy the elegance of this style. Artists are encouraged to work with nature in an individual and imaginative form through colour, line and texture to create arrangements from the heart for all to enjoy.  More Info »

Visitor Comments

Wonderful place the garden sure shows it is loved
Juliet - March 2017
Visited the Garden yesterday albeit on a rather cold day and camellia blooms not at their best but certainly a vast variety. House tour was VERY well presented with lots of personal Waterhouse information. Great Ikebana elegant & interesting arrangements throughout by the hand of Jenny Goodwin-Sogetsu School.
