'Himalaya' at 50 Sublime Point Road Leura is new to the Festival in 2024
and is set on a large block overlooking the stunning Jamieson Valley and the beautiful sandstone escarpment walls of Kedumba to the east. The gardens are 70 years old and have been carefully curated by the previous owners and maintained with the help of local gardeners and landscapers.
The front garden includes a 'wander' garden with a pebble path meandering among the trees. The rear garden has the most stunning view - it will take your breath away.
The garden boasts flowers all year round due to careful planting - there is always something blooming. The beautiful azaleas are an explosion of colour in the spring and have been cloud pruned for some drama. There are camellias, rhododendrons, Japanese maple, daphne, copper beech, tree ferns, daffodils along with many mature alpine trees and plants. In spring one can experience the delight of the cherry blossoms lining the driveway.
'Allawah' at 31-33 Waratah Rd Wentworth Falls is another garden new to the Festival in 2024. The garden was inherited from its previous owners in October 2022 and was a case of love at first sight.
As we welcome you here, we hope you enjoy the garden's many rooms and the ever-changing colours. Our predecessors were inspired and have given us all a rich display, which manages to exploit the seasons.
The style is fairly unique in the Mountains as there are few natives. We think it is full of surprises and delight.
It is quite a tough environment and from time to time the rain manages to kill some trees or hedges, but where this has happened we have tried again with different plants. We have enjoyed developing the ideas and trying new ones.
We are particularly proud of the stone wall on the west side of the main lawn and the border in front of it, which we planted, and which reminds us of an English country garden.
But visitors will be interested in it all, we hope, and trust that you will enjoy it.
'Carinya' at 25-31 Balmoral Rd Leura is also new to the Festival in 2024 and will be open for 1 day only on Friday 4 October. The property was built in 1914 and some trees are over one hundred years old.
There are beautiful mature trees including conifers, sequoias and gorgeous rhododendrons that stand over 10 metres high and surround the side of the home. Azaleas are also plentiful and complete the pretty picture.
