On October 26th and 27th come and explore 9 beautiful private gardens in the Murrindindi Shire that will fling open their gates for the annual Alexandra and District Open Gardens event. We have 2 town gardens and 7 country gardens. All the funds raised from gate takings go directly back into the local community. Your visit to a garden allows Alexandra and District Open Garden committee to contribute to significant local projects and support many local community groups.

Entry fee is $5pp for each individual garden or $40pp for entry to all gardens available at garden gates. Cash only as there is no card payment facilities. You can also book through Trybooking for all gardens entry via QR code link available on the event website. Free garden guide maps will be available at each garden and can be viewed on the event website.

As part of Alexandra & District Open Gardens, one of the participating open garden owners, Marian Rennie has been successful in securing three guest speakers to talk about Ways to the Future on Sunday 27th October from 1pm onwards.
Costa Georgiadis is Australia's most famous landscape architect and TV presenter who has an all-consuming passion for plants and people.
He knows how to bring out the best in both and takes great pleasure in bringing them together. His holistic approach is all about gardening, the soil and the soul.
Joining Costa will be Joost Bakker - Future Food Systems and the man behind the creation of the zero waste, Greenhouse by Joost that was beside Federation Square. He is also an extremely talented florist that grows his own flowers in the Dandenongs, (300 different species of Australian natives) and is responsible for inspirational floral creations in restaurants and retail shops.
Peter Burgess Co-Founder from Melbourne based, Rainbow Bee Eater is the third guest speaker. The three guest speakers will be discussing gardens, the future and flowers.
Marian is also encouraging people to join in and parade around the garden in wearable floral creations with prizes for the most creative entries.

Funds raised from the Open Gardens Weekend are contributed to local projects and groups. For many years, the Alexandra Open Gardens have provided support to projects that improve our community. These range from landscaping parks, our hospital, residential facilities for the elderly and schools. We also support arts projects, the Country Fire Authority and much more.
This rock is within a circle of Maple trees planted in Leckie Park to commemorate 30 years of our Open Garden Event.
This year we have seven beautiful country gardens and two inspirational town gardens for you to enjoy.
There is something for every gardening enthusiast including attractions at each garden.
